Co-leaders UST Tigers, FEU Tamaraws face tough foes as UAAP second round begins

LEAGUE leaders University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University will have just a few days enjoying the view from the top before plunging back to work on Sunday when the second round of the UAAP Season 78 eliminations begin on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The two schools resume action in earnest, with the Tigers taking on De La Salle Archers at 4 p.m. and the Tamaraws battling the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the first game at 11 a.m. based on the league’s schedule formula of 2 vs. 4 and 1 vs. 3.

The Tigers and Tamaraws are currently tied for first place with similar 6-1 cards, while the Archers and Eagles occupy the Nos. 3 and 4 spots respectively, with identical 4-3 slates.

Tickets for the two Sunday games will be sold separately.

Second round hostilities formally begin on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena with skidding University of the Philippines taking on Adamson at 2 p.m., and reigning champion National University battling University of the East at 4 p.m.

UST and FEU gained a two-game lead over La Salle and Ateneo following their victories on Wednesday. The Growling Tigers beat UE, 83-76, while the Tamaraws downed NU, 61-59.
