ATENEO star Kiefer Ravena could only look back with a grin and recall how he engaged Globalport guard Terrence Romeo in a shoot-out at practice a day before the Blue Eagles’ UAAP Final Four showdown against the National University Bulldogs.

In jest, the reigning league MVP said he shouldn’t have joined Romeo in shooting practice at the Moro Lorenzo gym on Tuesday afternoon.

“Sabi ko na eh, dapat hindi na ako nakipag-shooting kay Terrence Romeo, kaya trenta y sinco ang tinira ko,” said a laughing Ravena after going 9-of-35 from the field in Ateneo’s 78-74 loss to NU on Wednesday that paved the way for their do-or-die encounter next week for a berth in the best-of-three title series.

Ravena caught up with Romeo at the gym after he came six hours earlier than the Eagles’ scheduled 6 p.m. practice.

Romeo and the Batang Pier are also training in the same facility inside the Ateneo campus.

The sophomore pro has taken his share of criticism for taking a lot of shots back when he was still with Far Eastern University, but the former UAAP MVP encouraged Kiefer to stay aggressive.

“Bawi na lang siya next game,” Romeo said.

Romeo is also positive that Ravena’s effort in practice will bear fruit when it is needed most.

“Minsan kasi ang resulta ng pinag-ensayuhan mo lalabas sa time na mas kailangan mo,” he said.
