SJ BELANGEL turned emotional after his juniors career with the Ateneo Blue Eagletscame to a glorious end on Tuesday.

Moments after the 63-58 win over National University in Game Three of the UAAP Season 80 juniors finals, Belangel climbed to the lower box section to hug his mother Mayette as tears flowed.

“Siya parati nag-reremind sa akin na kung ano gagawin before the game,” said the 18-year-old Belangel.

The Bacolod City native also hugged his father, former player Sammy, who he said was instrumental in his development into one of the top high school players in the country.

Belangel had 16 points and eight rebounds in his farewell game with the Blue Eaglets - a 63-58 win over National University that rewarded Ateneo with a sweep of the season basketball titles.

Prior to the game, Belangel said he also received words of encouragement from former Blue Eaglets teammates who are now with the seniors team. One of them was Mike Nieto.
