BO Perasol is bringing in two surprise additions to the University of the Philippines coaching staff.

Ricky Dandan and Rodney Santos will form part of the staff that already includes Joe Ward, Allan Gregorio, and Moriah Gingerich. Both of them are set to join the UP bench in their opening game in the Filoil preseason tournament against Perpetual Help on Wednesday.

A longtime lieutenant of Perasol in his PBA days, Dandan makes a shock return to the Maroons, having been the head coach of the team previously before a bitter separation in the middle of the 2013 season as he was replaced by Rey Madrid. He then joined Ateneo when Perasol was named head coach of the Blue Eagles.

Meanwhile, Santos was last seen coaching in college for his alma mater San Sebastian in the NCAA Season 91. Perasol, however, said Santos, a former PBA player most notably for Purefoods, Alaska, and Ginebra, will bring a lot to the table for the Maroons in terms of sharing his talent to the team.

“Si Rodney, parang guide ng mga bata sa skills kasi hindi na ako ang magtuturo kung paano gagawin ‘yung mga certain skills sa kanila,” said Perasol.
