BONG Quinto led the way as Letran spoiled the preseason debut of former coach Aldin Ayo for University of Santo Tomas, 95-90, in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup on Sunday in San Juan.

Quinto scored 22 points and nine assists as Letran got off to a rousing start in the annual preseason tournament at the expense of La Salle and the coach who led the Knights to their last NCAA title.

Showing much better depth from last year, the boys of coach Jeff Napa dominated inside with newcomers Larry Muyang and Christian Fajarito immediately making their presence felt.

"Our deep frontline is our advantage, they now can rest and recover well. They can now play and be comfortable in their positions," said Napa.

"Ever since there is pressure to do well, we will just accept the outcome but we will always give it our 110-percent," he added.

Muyang finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds as Fajarito had 12 points and 12 boards. Jerrick Balanza also scored 17 for the Knights.
