PIDO Jarencio has posted an intriguing tweet on Tuesday related to his former team University of Santo Tomas amid a growing clamor to bring him back to the Tigers' coaching job.

Jarencio posted “Let’s bring back the glory! #pusopridepalaban” on his official Twitter account @pidojarencio1 on Wednesday along with a picture of the Tigers' celebration after their last UAAP championship in 2006, where Jarencio was head coach.

The clamor to bring back Jarencio has been intensified after the disappointing result of this year’s campaign that saw UST win just three times under first-year coach Boy Sablan.

“There have been people asking from the alumni asking when will coach Pido return to UST,” said a school insider who asked not to be named.

Jarencio led UST to a championship and two finals appearances in his eight-year stint with the Growling Tigers before stepping down to become the head coach of GlobalPort in 2014.

The former UST star guard was replaced by Bong Dela Cruz, which led the Tigers to the finals in 2015 before a controversy led to him being replaced by Sablan during the offseason.

Jarencio is available to get back to the UST coaching job after being replaced last season by Johnedel Cardel, who has since given way to Franz Pumaren at GlobalPort.

Jarencio has stayed on at GlobalPort as alternate governor - a job that would give him enough time for another role as UST coach.
