PAUL Desiderio could not contain his excitement in University of the Philippines’ impending win that he jumped on and gave Maroons coach Bo Perasol a big hug with a few ticks still left in the game.

“Sobrang saya. First win din ni coach,” Desiderio said as he explained his celebration with Perasol.

Desiderio played an all-around game on Wednesday when he had 17 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals to help the UP beat University of the East, 75-71, to improve their mark to 1-3.

But what makes Desiderio even happier is that everybody in the team contributed and played with the right attitude on their way to the win.

“Past three games kasi kulang pa sa gigil,” said Desiderio, who once singled out his teammates during a loss when they were not playing with a winning attitude.

“‘Yun ang hinahanap namin. Sobrang saya ko na ‘yung gigil namin, nailabas namin ngayon. Sana magtuluy-tuloy,” he added.

Desiderio scored 10 points in the second half to keep the Maroons in the game before Jett Manuel took over by scoring four straight points to break a 69-69 tie late in the game.

Desiderio, however, knows there is still room for improvement for the Maroons.

“Basta sundin lang namin si coach. Past games kasi nagkakanya-kanya kami,” said Desiderio.
