ADAMSON halted Far Eastern University's seven-game winning streak with a 61-59 decision on Sunday in the UAAP Season 79 seniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Falcons raised their record to 6-5 (win-loss) and solidified their hold of fourth place in the team standings, enhancing their bid for a return to the Final Four.

The Tamaraws saw their winning run end but remained in second place with an 8-3 card.

Sean Manganti had 14 points and seven rebounds, while Robbie Manalang scored 12 markers for the Falcons, who are rejuvenated in their first season under Franz Pumaren.

Jonathan Espeleta finished with eight points including six in the fourth quarter when the Falcons wrapped up their second successive win and moved a victory away from clinching a Final Four berth.

"We needed this win," said Adamson coach Franz Pumaren. "As we all know, at this stage we are looking at making the playoffs. We needed this type of game especially with the next games going to be tough for us."

FEU lost despite leading by as many as 10 points in the contest.

Espeleta nailed two free throws to put Adamson ahead, 60-55, with 1:42 left in the contest. With FEU trailing by a point and with 3.8 seconds left to play, Monbert Arong was called for travelling, ending the Tamaraws' hopes of making a comeback.

Raymar Jose had 16 points and nine rebounds for the Tamaraws.
