NATIONAL University confirmed head coach Eric Altamirano has submitted his courtesy resignation on Friday, and the school has yet to decide its next step.

The Bulldogs scored only five wins  in 14 elimination-round games and missed the semifinals.

“Coach Eric tendered his courtesy resignation to management and I guess the purpose behind it is to give management a free hand in deciding the future of the NU basketball team,” NU athletic director Chito Loyzaga said on Wednesday.

Loyzaga added NU is still deliberating on the courtesy resignation of Altamirano.

“As if the management has accepted it, wala pa. They are deliberating. Hopefully, we’ll know in the couple of days at least. Coach Eric was being courteous,” said Loyzaga.

Under Altamirano's watch, the Bulldogs rose from laughing stock to champions.

NU missed the Final Four only two years claiming its first UAAP crown in 50 years.
