NU Lady Bulldogs beat La Salle Lady Archers to bag Fr. Martin Cup women's title
National University bags its second Fr. Martin Cup title in the last three years.

NATIONAL University beat La Salle, 76-69, to rule the 23rd Fr. Martin Cup summer basketball women’s tournament at the San Beda Gym.

Trixie Antiquera had 18 points while Ria Nabalan scored 16 to lift the Lady Bulldogs to the preseason title.

NU relied on a 9-0 run led by Antiquera and Ria Nabalan in the second quarter for a 39-34 halftime lead and never looked back.

Nabalan also scored a lay-up late in the third that gave NU a 57-46 advantage against the team they battled for the UAAP crown twice in the last three seasons.

“They need to play as hard as they can,” said NU coach Patrick Aquino. “This is our preparation for next year’s UAAP women’s basketball season.”

NU won its second Fr. Martin Cup crown in three years in the tournament supported by Armor On Sportswear.

Khate Castillo scored 16 points for the Lady Archers.
