Trixie Antiquera scores 30 as National U rips UE in Game One of UAAP women’s basketball finals

TRIXIE Antiquera scored 30 points as National University defeated University of the East, 89-61, on Wednesday in Game One of the UAAP Season 80 women’s basketball finals at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Antiquera had 19 points in the first half as she nearly outscored the entire Lady Warriors squad. NU held a 43-21 lead at halftime.

The Lady Bulldogs, who have won their 63rd straight game, looks to complete a sweep of the best-of-three finals series on Sunday.

“I’m just happy for the girls especially with Trixie her last playing year and having a grand time shooting the threes. At least, lumabas,” said NU coach Pat Aquino.

The 22-year-old from Bacolod hit seven triples as the Lady Bulldogs led by as many as 36 points in the game.

Ria Nabalan had 16 points, while Jack Animam, who received her Most Valuable Player award prior to the game, had 10 points, 17 rebounds and five blocks for the Lady Bulldogs.

Love Sto. Domingo tallied 17 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks for the Lady Warriors.
