NATIONAL University coach Jamike Jarin is thrilled to have Dave Ildefonso on the team, convinced the young player’s versatility will be a huge boost for the Bulldogs.

“Of course, we are very happy with Dave joining us. He brings us a lot of flexibility. He will be playing multiple positions,” said Jarin.

In Season 80, Ildefonso averaged 13.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.1 steals for the Ateneo Blue Eaglets, who won the UAAP crown in a three-game series over the NU Bullpups.

Now he moves to NU, joining his dad and PBA great Danny Ildefonso, who is part of the Bulldogs coaching staff.

Dave will also be teaming up with older brother Shaun at NU, both eligible to play for the Bulldogs for Season 81.  Shaun has completed a one-year residency following his transfer from Ateneo after one season in the seniors division.

The 17-year-old 6-foot-5 Ildefonso is expected to fit quickly with the Bulldogs, having played the guard and forward positions even in high school.

Jarin said there is definitely a big difference in the style of play between Dave and Danny, Danny who played for NU in the mid-1990s.

“The dad is a true big man while Dave is a perimeter player in a big man’s body,” said Jarin.
