DE La Salle coach Aldin Ayo will no longer seek a third term as councilor of Sorsogon City, according to a report by BicolToday.com.

The newly-hired head coach of the Green Archers said he has withdrew his certificate of candidacy on Thursday due to a “family concern” which he has not given his attention to over the past year, the report said.

“Continuing my bid for a council seat next year is no longer feasible,” Ayo told BicolToday.com. “This is painful for me, setting aside temporarily my political plans ... For very personal reason is what I can tell you.”

La Salle has not released an official announcement regarding the coaching change but Ayo has confirmed the move, just days after leading Letran to an NCAA championship in his first season as head coach.

Ayo, however, was quick to deny that the switch to La Salle - sealed with former presidential candidate and top Green Archers patron Danding Cojuangco - was about money or politics.

The former Letran Knight, who has topped  the race for council seats in Sorsogon City for the past two elections, asked for understanding from his supporters, vowing to help in agriculture, social programs, and sports in a private capacity.
