Cebu champs USC Warriors reach NCC semifinals as Kevin Ferrer, UST fire blanks

UNIVERSITY of San Carlos downed University of Santo Tomas, 82-72, on Tuesday to make it to the semifinal round of the 2015 National Collegiate Championship at The Arena in San Juan.

Shooster Olago had 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Cesafi champion Warriors, who will face UAAP champion Far Eastern University on Wednesday, 4 p.m. at The Arena in San Juan.

The Warriors outscored the UAAP runner-up Growling Tigers, 24-17, in the third quarter and Olago had 12 points in the fourth quarter to seal the victory in the tournament also called the Philippine Collegiate Champions League.

William McAloney had 11 points while Charles Pepito finished with 10 points for the USC Warriors, who also got 10 points and 11 rebounds from Espoir Toyambi.

Ed Daquioag finished with 17 points, while Kevin Ferrer had 16 points but only shot 6-of-18 from the field including 4-of-16 from three-point range. Ferrer also missed all seven of his free throw attempts.

Kent Lao had 16 points but also struggled from the field, hitting only four of his 11 shots from trey.

The USC-FEU winner will face either San Beda or Letran in the championship game on Thursday.
