WINNERS on opening weekend clash as the UAAP Season 78 seniors basketball tournament resumes on Wednesday the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

La Salle faces University of the Philippines at 2 p.m., while Far Eastern University takes on University of Santo Tomas at 4 p.m.

The Tamaraws, who scored a 24-point win over Ateneo, go for their second straight victory against the Tigers, who also won their opener by twin digits against Adamson.

FEU shot an amazing 51 percent from the field in the lopsided win over Ateneo to reinforce its status as a title contender for Season 78.

Head coach Nash Racela, however, refused to be carried away with the huge win.

“Kung ma-susustain namin ’yun the whole season, that would be good, but I don’t think it will happen,” said Racela.

Meantime, La Salle also had a rousing debut for Season 78 when the Green Archers upended reigning champion National University, 67-63.

La Salle now faces a confident UP side, which won its their first game of the season, a 62-55 decision over University of the East.

“I want this team to have that never-say-die attitude,” said UP’s rookie coach Rensy Bajar.
