Former Falcons interim coach Mike Fermin tasked to handle Adamson cagebelles

FORMER Soaring Falcons coach Mike Fermin has been tapped to handle the Adamson University women’s basketball team in the UAAP.

Fermin was tasked to handle the coaching job with the Falcons after Kenneth Duremdes was fired last season but now takes over the women’s team with the hiring of Franz Pumaren as Falcons mentor.

Adamson athletic director Fr. Aldrin Suan confirmed Fermin has been appointed as coach of the women’s squad. Fermin led the Falcons to three wins, an output that exceeded the expectations of the school community, in Season 78.

“He (Fermin) is an asset to the university with commendable work ethics, very professional, and can handle well players’ issues and concerns,” said Suan.

Fermin replaces long-time Adamson women’s coach and former national player Emilia Vega.

The Lady Falcons went 4-10 in Season 78. They have not won a title since going back-to-back in 2009 and 2010. They also won two consecutive titles under Vega in 2003 and 2004.
