Atoy Co insists NU not interested in Allwell Oraeme but mum on status of controversial Mapua import
Atoy Co has close ties with NU management and bared that the Bulldogs are not interested in controversial Mapua import Allwell Oraeme.

MAPUA coach Atoy Co insisted National University has no interest in recruiting two-time NCAA MVP Allwell Oraeme.

Co denied reports Oraeme is headed to the Bulldogs, months after the Nigerian player decided not to play for the Cardinals in Season 93 following his performance in the past two seasons.

Although he is coaching Mapua, Co is close to NU management particularly its men's basketball team manager Manny Sy, and has been spotted in many UAAP games of the Bulldogs.

"Honestly, NU is not interested on getting Allwell," Co told reporters after Mapua's match against Perpetual Help in the NCAA. "Hanggang doon lang masasabi ko. 'Yung reason, sa amin na lang 'yun."

"Pero ayaw ng NU especially ayaw ni Mr. Manny Sy," Co added.

Mapua is in a transition period as the Cardinals look to remain a Final Four contender without Oraeme. The Cardinals bowed to Perpetual Help, 63-60, at the Mapua gym in the continuation of the NCAA On Tour.

Co refused to answer questions about the whereabouts of Oraeme or what school he is headed.

"I think so," Co answered when asked whether Oraeme is in the country. "Now you have to read between my lips. I don't want to say something that will incriminate me again."
