La Salle endures Ayo ejection, tough UE stand to put away sixth straight win
Two UE players try to keep La Salle big man Ben Mbala off the boards.

DE LA Salle endured the ejection of its head coach and a late University of the East charge to put way an 84-78 victory on Wednesday, keeping the Green Archers unbeaten  in the UAAP Season 79 seniors basketball tournament.

The Green Archers faced a surprisingly tough challenge from the winless Red Warriors but finally put away win No. 6 on Andrei Caracut's clutch three-pointer entering the final minute  at the Mall of Asia Arena.

La Salle put away the win without coach Aldin Ayo, who was ejected on successive technicals in the second quarter for confronting a referee while complaining about a contentious non-call.

Caracut's three-pointer with 1:01 left brought La Salle's lead back to 81-74 after the Warriors battled back from double-digit deficits to make the game exciting in the second half.

Ben Mbala had 19 points, 17 rebounds, and three blocks for the Green Archers on a rare off game for Jeron Teng, who finished with just seven points.

Other Green Archers stepped up with Justin Baltazar finishing with 14 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks, and Prince Rivero adding 11 points and eight boards in his finest outing for La Salle this season.
