GETTING stronger after recovering from a knee injury, Kib Montalbo is enjoying La Salle’s pace of play that has earned the Archers five wins in as many games.

Montalbo is one of the lead guards in La Salle’s pressure defense of head coach Aldin Ayo, taking a big role after coming off a ACL injury during the offseason of 2015.

“I’m stronger now,” said Montalbo.

The guard from Bacolod said he likes La Salle’s style of defense — they call it ‘Mayhem.’

“I’m happy that I’m back on the floor especially kay coach Ayo na system na Mayhem. I really like that pace. Whatever na binigay sa akin, I’ll accept my role,” said Montalbo.

His acceptance to the system has reaped benefits and against National University, Montalbo tallied five steals while forcing NU point guard Rev Diputado to six turnovers.

Against Adamson, Montalbo played an all-around game, finishing with 12 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and two steals.

“’Yun ang hinahanap ni coach, energy on defense. Gawin ko ‘yung kung ano ‘yung gusto ni coach para I’ll be there on the court,” said Montalbo.
