After two finals heartbreaks, Kevin Ferrer vows to write different ending to title series
UST senior Kevin Ferrer has tasted two finals defeats in his UAAP career.

A UAAP title has been elusive for Kevin Ferrer in his career with University of Santo Tomas.

As a sophomore, Ferrer saw the Growling Tigers lose in the finals as Ateneo wrapped up the last of its five successive titles. The following season, UST's campaign ended with another loss to La Salle in the finals.

The vastly improved forward, however, is determined to put a different ending to this season when the Tigers play the Far Eastern University Tamaraws in a best-of-three finals in his final season in the UAAP.

“Mas sobrang gigil kami kasi last year na namin," said Ferrer, the most prominent among the seniors in UST's lineup joining Karim Abdul and Ed Daquioag. "Ibibigay talaga namin ‘yung best namin. Maglalaro kami na buong pamilya.”

On Sunday, Ferrer finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks as the Growling Tigers dethroned National University, 64-55, to gain the right to play Far Eastern University in the finals.

Ferrer has vowed there will be no letdown in the finals this time.

“Gagawin namin ang lahat ng makakaya namin na makuha ‘yung championship. Paghahandaan namin talaga. Bibigyan namin kayo ng magandang laban,” Ferrer said.
