Kai Sotto overtakes SJ Belangel to regain top spot in NBTC rankings

KAI Sotto of Ateneo regained the top spot of the NBTC-Chooks To Go High School Power Rankings after his triple-double performance in Game One of the UAAP Season 80 juniors basketball final.

Sotto had 22 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 blocks in the series opener to overtake Ateneo teammate SJ Belangel for the lead in the weekly power rankings being determined by coaches and mediamen. The top 24 will play in the NBTC High School All-Star Game in March.

Belangel dropped to second in the power rankings, while Joel Cagulangan of La Salle Greenhills, Will Gozum of Mapua, and CJ Cansino of University of Santo Tomas stayed at third to fifth, respectively.

L-Jay Gonzales of Far Eastern University, Dave Ildefonso of Ateneo, Rhayyan Amsali of National University, Aaron Fermin of Arellano, and Clint Escamis of Mapua round out the top 10.

John Galinato of Chiang Kai Shek College, Inand Fornilos of La Salle Greenhills, Warren Bonifacio of Mapua, Terrence Fortea of NU, and RJ Abarrientos of FEU occupy the 11th to 15th spots, respectively.

Evan Nelle of San Beda, Joem Sabandal of Adamson, Beirn Laurente of University of Visayas, Raven Cortez of De La Salle Zobel, and Miguel Oczon of NU complete the top 20.

Alex Visser of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, McLaude Guadana of Lyceum, Harvey Pagsanjan of Hope Christian High School, and Joshua Yerro of UV round out the list.
