JUNEL Baculi said on Monday he is still the athletic director of National University, quashing rumors that he has been dropped by the Sy-owned school.

The veteran basketball coach said he is no longer surprised by the latest rumors, saying these have been going around for a while now even after the Bulldogs won their first UAAP title in 60 years.

“Tagal nang may ganito (rumors). Nandito pa naman ako, nag-tatrabaho,” Baculi told to on Monday.

“I don’t know where it is coming from. But I’m still here sa NU,” added Baculi, who also represents the school in the UAAP board.

Baculi, however, said he is open to a return to coaching. He last handled Globalport in the PBA - a job he performed while being the athletic director of NU at the same time.

Baculi initially considered the coaching job of Hapee Toothpaste, which he led to several championships in the defunct Philippine Basketball League. The job eventually went to Ronnie Magsanoc.

“Yes, I’m still with NU. Pero siyempre, gusto ko rin bumalik sa coaching,” said Baculi, who made it clear no team has talked to him about a possible coaching job.
