JETT Manuel was glad University of the Philippines has finally gotten over the hump after starting UAAP Season 79 with three successive losses.

“It’s emotional in a way na down three games, this being my final year, it’s frustrating. Medyo emotional ‘yung win na ‘to,” Manuel, who incidentally will turn 24 on Thursday, after the Maroons beat University of the East, 75-71.

“It’s just a hump that we need to get over. We feel that we did it together and that’s what made it sweeter,” he added.

The UP veteran forward finished with 17 points including four crucial points that put the Maroons ahead, 73-69, in the endgame.

But Manuel said the Fighting Maroons still have a long way to go, careful not to be satisfied with the victory over the Red Warriors.

“I still know that there are 10 games left. Like coach said, there is light at the end of the tunnel but that tunnel will keep going. We still have a long way to go,” said Manuel.

“We are going to enjoy this win but at the end of the day, we still have 10 games,” he said.
