BEN Mbala has been spotted both in games and on campus accompanied by bodyguards as La Salle's campaign in UAAP Season 79 enters its most crucial stretch.

According to sources, bodyguards have been seen around Mbala by students at the La Salle campus in Taft Avenue as the Green Archers look to end their elimination round on a winning note on Saturday against Far Eastern University at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Even league officials and staff have seen La Salle’s prized center escorted by two men as early as the match against Ateneo last Saturday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

La Salle lost that match against Ateneo, putting an end to its unbeaten run this season.

It is unclear at the moment what's the reason behind the increased security on La Salle’s top center, who is a shoo-in to win the MVP award this season.

Officials have yet to issue a statement on the matter.
