Hot-shooting Ateneo Blue Eagles deal UP Maroons an embarrassing defeat

REIGNING UAAP champion Ateneo continued to roll in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup, dealing Bright Akhuetie and the University of the Philippines an embarrassing 100-72 defeat on Sunday afternoon at The Arena in San Juan.

Filipino-Kiwi forward Pat Maagdenberg scored nine points to lead a balanced attack by the Blue Eagles, who steadily pulled away in the third quarter after Akhuetie fell into foul trouble for the Maroons.

Ateneo coach Tab Baldwin dug deep on his bench and let second- and third-stringers complete the rout - the third in a row for the Blue Eagles after equally impressive victories against NCAA champion San Beda and the Gilas Pilipinas cadets.
