Magsanoc doubts Hapee players' flight plan from Cebu, prepares to play D-League game with just seven players
Coach Ronnie Magsanoc could have only seven players available, eight at most, if the San Beda and NU players don't return in time from the PCCL Final Eight in Cebu City. Dante Peralta

HALF of the team will be out of town days before their next match, and Hapee coach Ronnie Magsanoc isn’t counting on their return in time for tipoff.

Magsanoc says that until he sees the return tickets of his players who will be suiting up for their school teams in a tournament in Cebu, he is bracing to play a PBA D-League game with just seven regulars and a reserve.

Six San Beda standouts in Ola Adeogun, Baser Amer, Art dela Cruz, Ryusei Koga, Jaypee Mendoza, and Michole Sorela and one National University star in Troy Rosario are seeing action in Cebu in the Final Eight of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League.

The Red Lions face University of San Carlos on Saturday and the Bulldogs take on Southwestern University on Sunday.

The players hope to make it back in Manila in time for Monday’s D-League game against Café France, but Magsanoc has yet to be convinced.

“Lahat naman sila may value. Ngayon, hangga’t hindi ko nakikita yung plane ticket, hindi ko alam kung babalik sila,” Magsanoc said. “Wala pa eh.”

PBA D-League rules require a minimum of six players for a team to play.

Without their eight players, the Fresh Fighters have seven players available and another one on the reserve list.

“We have to get more than six,” Magsanoc said.

The Fresh Fighters stayed unbeaten in three outings after a 79-66 win over MJM on Monday.
