Hubert Cani dad confirms former Ateneo guard has enrolled at FEU
Hubert Cani has played one season at Ateneo but failed to meet academic requirements to be eligible for the Blue Eagles next season.

HUBERT Cani has transferred to Far Eastern University, according to his father Jon-jon.

The elder Cani said his son enrolled at FEU on Wednesday to formally enter the school after suiting up for the Blue Eagles for one season in the UAAP basketball tournament.

The former National University juniors standout transferred to FEU after he failed to meet the required grade or QPI for athletes of Ateneo along with teammates from last year’s UAAP team, namely Arvin Tolentino, Jerie Pingoy, and John Apacible.

CJ Perez, another transferee from San Sebastian who was taking up residency with the Blue Eagles, also failed to make the grade and has since moved to Lyceum.

Cani, who will sit out Season 79 before being eligible to play for the Tamaraws the following season, is expected to be a good addition to the backcourt of FEU which lost Mike Tolomia and Roger Pogoy from the last year’s champion team.

Season 78 MVP Mac Belo and Russel Escoto, however, could suit up this season following a rule change that scrapped the seven-year window for athletes to play a maximum of five years for the team.
