Olsen Racela takes pride in FEU improvement after overcoming shaky start with three-game win run
Olsen Racela looks forward to a long break for the weary Tamaraws.

FAR Eastern University has managed to overcome a shaky start with a three-game win run to join unbeaten Ateneo among the hottest teams in UAAP Season 80 so far.

The Tamaraws have bounced back from losing two of its first three games, winning their third straight outing on Sunday against University of the Philippines, 78-59.

But more than the streak, FEU coach Olsen Racela was more thrilled to see his wards’ improvement with each outing.

"Ang gusto ko lang, not so much 'yung streak but the way we've been playing the past games," said Racela. "From the very first game, nag-iimprove kami every game. Even nung Ateneo game, nag-improve kami doon."

Racela pointed out his team’s progress on the defensive end, especially in limiting UP's Paul Desiderio to nine points on 4-of-12 shooting from the field on Sunday.

Ron Dennison was on the center of FEU's defense on Desiderio, but the Tamaraws defensive specialist also led the way on offense with 16 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in the game.

"I like the way things are going. We have one more game next week. Hopefully, we finish the first round with a win," said Racela.

Having played three games in one week last week, the Tamaraws now enter a long break before they play Adamson on Saturday.

"It's a welcome break for us," Racela said.
