FAR Eastern University isn’t putting a whole lot of thought into its win streak coming to an end, as coach Nash Racela dismissed talk about rust after coming off a long break.

Racela and the Tamaraws noted league-leading La Salle saw its unbeaten run stopped at 12 games just a day earlier.

“Everything comes to an end, just like yesterday,” said FEU coach Nash Racela.

The loss didn’t affect the Tamaraws’ placing as they remained in second with an 8-3 record, but Ateneo is now just a game behind with a 7-4 win-loss slate.

The Falcons climbed out of a 17-9 deficit at the end of the first quarter, closing the gap to two points at the half, 30-32, before taking control in the endgame.

La Salle and FEU had long breaks that perhaps affected their momentum, but Racela doesn’t believe so.

“I don’t believe in that. I always tell our team na use everything to your advantage. If you are given a long lay-off, puwede kang magpahinga, work on the different things para when you resume, you get better,” said Racela.

Instead, Racela looks to work on turnovers as they committed a handful against an Adamson squad that played solid defense.

“We talked about our turnovers today. We had 27. That’s a point of concern. Hopefully, we correct that before the next game.”

FEU next takes on Ateneo, a team that is hoping to score a followup to the big win against La Salle as it tries to grab a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four.

“That’s the kind of schedule that they gave us,” said Racela, whose team also meets La Salle on Saturday.

“We just have to prepare for every game. It’s going to be a tough second round. We will still be playing the postponed game against UE so it is what it is.”
