FEU not searching for Racela replacement for now, says coaching staff members capable of taking over next season
With Nach Racela assuring his commitment this season, FEU is not seeking a new coach, for now.

FAR Eastern University is not searching for a replacement for Nash Racela at this stage of the tournament, according to its athletic director, even as there is growing belief assistant coach Josh Reyes is set to take over next season.

FEU athletic director Mark Molina believes the coaching staff is capable of taking over the place of Racela, if he is indeed moving to Talk ‘N Text.

“We had a conversation with Mr. Anton Montinola (FEU owner) yesterday and I told him na ‘Boss, let’s not talk about it now.’ It’s unfair to the current team and the coaching staff if we are already planning it,” said Molina.

Reyes has been linked to the Racela transfer news, even as Molina says there are “several” assistants capable of taking over as Tamaraws head coach.

“We have several members of the coaching staff who are, to me, very ready and qualified to be a coach in the UAAP. But I don’t want to start any conversation right now. We will do it after the season,” said Molina.

Molina added FEU hopes to keep Racela in the Tamaraws organization even as he moves to the PBA.

“If Nash gets the Talk ‘N Text position, we will definitely do everything in our power to still keep Nash Racela in the FEU organization in whatever capacity he wants,” Molina said.

“It was always clear that when Nash joined FEU, when opportunity like this comes, we will gladly accept his decision and support him 100 percent,” he said.

Molina said the assurance that Racela will stay with the Tamaraws until the end of Season 79 is big for their title-retention bid and the university supports his

“Although Nash and I have been in touch the last couple of weeks, pinag-uusapan na ’yun, ang only concern namin in FEU is to make sure that Nash will finish the season with FEU. Wala namang doubt. We know that Nash will not leave in the middle of the season,” Molina said.
