FEU Tamaraws ride crest of five-game win streak, but not taking slumping Tigers lightly
The FEU Tamaraws are playing in four successive playdates - and head coach Nash Racela is not too happy about it.

FAR Eastern University goes for its sixth straight win on Wednesday when it goes up against slumping University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP Season 79 seniors basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Gametime is at 4 p.m.

As the second hottest team in the league behind unbeaten leader La Salle, the Tamaraws are in second place with a 6-2 win-loss slate which is bound to improve as they enter a stretch where it will face teams at the bottom of the standings.

Head coach Nash Racela, however, is not taking anything lightly, noting the importance of getting wins early in the second round.

“When you play those teams, they are dangerous. It’s a hard schedule for us. We played the last playdate of the first round and then we play three straight (games) again so parang four straight for us,” said Racela.

FEU survived a thriller against National University, 57-56, on Sunday with Monbert Arong hitting a game-winning jumper to keep the winning streak going.

On the other hand, the Growling Tigers are looking to snap out of a four-game losing skid. UST, which lost to University of the East, 71-61, last Saturday, is sitting in a share of sixth place with University of the Philippines and UE.

In the first game, University of the Philippines goes for its second straight victory against Adamson at 2 p.m.

UP is coming off a rousing 56-52 win over Ateneo for only its second victory this season, but will face a tough Adamson squad that gave La Salle a scare before bowing, 86-79.
