FEU-La Salle tune-up match halted amid tension among Ayo, Gonzales, Racela
A highly physical tune-up match between La Salle and FEU was stopped as tension developed among coaches Nash Racela, Aldin Ayo, and Eric Gonzales.

THE UAAP has yet to start but this early, fireworks between De La Salle and Far Eastern University have begun.

A tune-up match between the Green Archers and the Tamaraws at the Filoil Flying V Arena on Thursday night ended prematurely after FEU assistant coach Eric Gonzales confronted La Salle coach Aldin Ayo during the third quarter.

Tension, according to eyewitness accounts, started to rise after La Salle players kept passing the ball in the general direction of FEU coach Nash Racela who, in three occasions, was hit by the ball.

The incident, sources said, prompted Gonzales to approach Ayo and have a word with him.

Although the incident was not entirely confrontational, according to witnesses, it was enough for match officials to stop the tune-up game which La Salle led by a wide margin.

Efforts to reach Gonzales, Racela, and Ayo for their side were unsuccessful as of posting time.

As it is, the tune-up match was already heated and marred by a lot of physical fouls in the first half between teams two teams in the thick of preparations for the coming UAAP season.
