CEBU CITY — The Far Eastern University Tamaraws have secured the commitment of Cebu Eastern College standout James Tempra.

The versatile 6-foot-4 forward, who earned a spot in the Cesafi Juniors Mythical Five in 2016, is expected to join the Tamaraws on April 2.

The youngster formalized his commitment to the school after meeting with FEU’s athletic director Mark Molina, assistant coach Ryan Betia and CEC consultant Mark Tallo, father of Talk N Text KaTropa guard Mark Jayven Tallo.

Adamson earlier recruited former two-time Cesafi junior MVP Jed Colonia.

Tempra is the latest to be recruited by FEU from the Cesafi, joining a list that includes Talk N Text’s Alfrancis Tamsi, Monbert Arong and Roger Ray Pogoy and Blackwater’s Raymar Jose, who is also from CEC.

Tempra said he chose FEU for the way their treat their student-athletes.

“It’s not because of their offer nor is it just because of the prestige of the school. Rather, it’s how they’ve treated me and their student-athletes and the opportunity they have presented me with,” shared the left-handed Tempra.

Betia said they like Tempra for his versatility and his size.

“He reminds us of a Jeff Chan in terms of versatility. He also has a little of Raymar Jose in him with regards to toughness,” said Betia who expressed gratitude to CEC athletic director John Maraat and Assistant Director for Administration Sotero Cabanes for allowing them to recruit Tempra.
