ATENEO coach Bo Perasol disclosed this season will be his final year with the Blue Eagles, regardless of what the outcome of their campaign is going to be in UAAP Season 78.

Perasol confirmed he had already spoken with management about his plan not to return to the team by the end of his three-year agreement to coach the Katipunan-based team.

“Meron na kaming agreement. I told them that this will be my last year,” said Perasol to a few reporters after Ateneo lost to FarEastern University on Sunday.

Asked if the decision is regardless of the result of the Blue Eagles’ season, Perasol said: “Regardless ‘yun.”

The Ateneo coach added the team is well aware of his decision not to stay.

“Alam nila ‘yun. The team knows that. The management knows that. Laging ang usapan namin, ‘This is our last hurrah,’” Perasol said.

The former University of the Philippines’ stalwart’s statements came after his future with the team hangs in the balance prior to the start of the second round.

Sources, however, said his decision to walk away from the team came way before this week.

Perasol also hinted he is not inclined to stay on even if the Eagles’ Season 78 campaign ends with a championship.

“Napag-usapan na namin lahat. I don’t think that’s going to be something that needs to be talked about. We all understand that already,” he said.

Perasol admitted receiving offers from outside Ateneo, but added he is not entertaining any of them owing to the ongoing UAAP campaign.

“Ang mga offers, from the outside. But I don’t talk to them because meron akong obligasyon dito sa Ateneo,” said Perasol.

Despite serving his final year with the team, Perasol said he is bent on giving the Blue Eagles a championship, especially after getting the support of management when it decided that he stay for
the remainder of the season.

“The mere fact na pinaglaban ako ng management to continue this, I’m really bent on doing something with the team. We still have time to do that,” he said.

Perasol took over the Ateneo coaching helm in 2013 when Norman Black returned to coach
Talk 'N Text in the PBA after guiding the Blue Eagles to five straight championships.

He had a tough first season with the Blue Eagles after missing the Final Four on a year when Ravena was saddled by an injury for the better part of the season.

Perasol guided Ateneo on top at the end of the eliminations last year, only to lose to eventual champion National University in the Final Four.
