LA Salle immediately went to work after Ateneo sealed the clash of the two archrivals for the UAAP Season 79 title on Wednesday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Just minutes after Ateneo survived an overtime thriller over Far Eastern University in their do-or-die semis match, the Green Archers took to the same court inside the Big Dome to begin their preparation for the championship showdown on Saturday.

Green Archers coach Aldin Ayo said the team didn’t want to waste a day, with the entire roster watching the Ateneo-FEU game before they buckled down to work.

“Kahit late na, ginagawa ko ‘yung practice after ng game kasi ayokong magsayang ng isang practice na hindi namin alam ang kalaban,” Ayo told reporters before the practice and right after Ateneo’s 69-68 win over FEU.

Ayo also bared that the Green Archers have been preparing for both teams during their long break, so he’s not concerned that rust or the hype over the two rivals' first finals clash since 2008 will affect their play.

The La Salle coach, who is eyeing back-to-back crowns in different collegiate leagues, said the Green Archers had been preparing for both teams anyway.

“’Yung mga practice plans namin, nakatutok sa dalawa,” said Ayo, who led Letran to the NCAA title last year. “Ngayon, alam na namin kung sino kalaban, makakatutok na kami sa Ateneo.”
