CJ Perez had 21 points while Dan Wong added 16 markers as Ateneo defeated San Beda, 88-78, over the weekend in the 13th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup basketball tournament at the Arellano Gym.

Perez once again picked up the scoring cudgels for the Blue Eagles' developmental team while getting help from Wong, who scored a buzzer-beating layup in the third period to start the team's breakaway.

Wong’s basket touched off a 6-0 run that broke a 58-all deadlock as the Blue Eagles made a rousing debut in a tournament featuring the developmental teams of schools.

With the victory, Ateneo joined AMA University in the early lead in Group A.

In the juniors division, Xavier defeated Manila Patriotic School, 93-51, while Arellano beat San Sebastian, 101-87. Infant Jesus Academy of Pampanga defeated UNO High School, 116-31.
