THE MVP award is the farthest thing in the mind of Ben Mbala, even if he's a cinch to win the honor.

Mbala, who with overall statistical points (SPs) of 95.2857 leads second-running Adamson center Papi Sarr (71.4286) by a wide margin, said his is on helping the Green Archers win more games.

“Like what I’ve been telling you guys, I’m not playing for personal awards. I’m here to help the team play well. As long as we are winning, I’m happy. I’m here to help the team get back on top. That’s what I’m trying to do,” said Mbala.

The Cameroonian big man started the second round by finishing with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks in the 86-79 win over Adamson to keep La Salle’s campaign for the title on track.

Mbala feels that if he will do his best to help the team put on top, the awards will follow.

“Looking at all those stats and who is leading the MVP race, it’s not in my mind right now. I’m just focusing on helping the team on offense and defense. By doing that, I feel like the individual award will come. But I’m not looking at that,” said Mbala.
