Green Archers make it 10 straight victories as NU Bulldogs skid stretches to four

LA Salle continued its UAAP onslaught, scoring a season-high in the Green Archers’ 113-88 win over National University on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 79 basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Green Archers have scored 10 wins in as many games, four victories away from a sweep of the elimination round and an outright berth in the finals.

La Salle surpassed the 100 points the Green Archers scored in their 38-point victory over University of Santo Tomas in the first round.

The Green Archers trailed by 10 early but their firepower was too much, with Aljun Melecio leading the team in the first half with 13 points.

The Bulldogs lost for the fourth straight time for a 4-6 record and fifth spot in the standings.

Ben Mbala led four La Salle players in double figures with 29 points, while also grabbing 14 rebounds for the Green Archers, who shot 51 percent from the field.

Melecio finished with 18 points, Jeron Teng scored 13 and Thomas Torres chipped in with 12.

Rev Diputado had 23 points, while J-Jay Alejandro added 17 points for the Bulldogs, who actually shot better from the field against La Salle, hitting 52 percent.
