Blue Eaglets rout Junior Archers to stay unscathed after first round in UAAP juniors

ATENEO swept its first round campaign following an 87-63 win over De La Salle-Zobel on Saturday in the UAAP Season 80 juniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

SJ Belangel had 23 points, five assists, and three steals, while Kai Sotto added 11 points, 16 rebounds, and four blocks for the Blue Eaglets, who stayed on top of the team standings with a 7-0 win-loss record.

Joaqui Manuel delivered 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Dave Ildefonso added 13 points and 10 rebounds for Ateneo, which also got 13 points from Jason Credo.

It was a wire-to-wire win by the Blue Eaglets, who led by as many as 28 points in the game.

Manuel had 10 points in the first period as Ateneo was already up, 24-13, after the quarter. Belangel also had 10 in the second as the Blue Eagles were way ahead, 52-28.

Raven Cortez had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Junior Archers, who ended the first round at sixth place with a 2-5 slate.
