ATENEO and De La Salle get to test their preseason form following coaching changes when the UAAP archrivals face off in the opening weekend of the Milcu Got Skills Summer Showcase age-group basketball tournament on Sunday at the Enderun Colleges Gym.
Tournament director Allen Ricardo said Ateneo coach Tab Baldwin and his counterpart at La Salle Aldin Ayo are expected to appear for the Blue Eagles-Green Archers match in the 25-under division set on Sunday, 2 p.m.
The league will actually open on Saturday but the highlight comes the next day as it will be the first time both teams will meet in the preseason since making a coaching change after UAAP Season 78.
Ayo took over La Salle following his conquest of the NCAA Season 91 title with Letran, while Gilas Pilipinas coach Baldwin took over Ateneo in the offseason.
Ricardo added Sunday will also feature another Ateneo-La Salle match in other age-groups with Agila facing De La Salle-Zobel in the 16-under at 3:10 p.m. Agila will also go up against La Salle Greenhills in the 13-under and 14-under at 4:20 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. respectively.
The tournament is backed by Milcu, sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, and supported by Basketball TV, Gatorade, Clyde Shoe Cleaner, Kawasaki, LGR, SLAM, Rain or Shine, Honda, Coach Athletic Trainers Tape, Secret Fresh, Mighty Sports, and Nousha Kebabs and Barbeque.
