FEU Tamaraws make it two straight wins and send Bulldogs to second consecutive loss

ARVIN Tolentino scored 23 points to lead Far Eastern University to a 90-83 win over National University on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 80 basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Tamaraws improved their record to 3-2 to come up with their first win streak after capturing their second consecutive victory.

The Bulldogs slumped to 2-3 for their second straight loss.

On his way to his best game of the season, Tolentino converted a triple with 3:40 left in the third quarter as the Tamaraws led by 15 points, 70-55.

With NU cutting the deficit to five points, Tolentino converted a lay-up that proved to be the dagger, bringing FEU's lead to 88-81 with 1:08 left in the fourth.

FEU coach Olsen Racela noted the importance of the win in their first game of a tough three-game stretch to end the first round.

"We need this win badly," said Racela. "Compared to our past games, we played consistently in this game."

Axel Inigo scored 12, while Barkley Ebona had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Tamaraws, who also got nine points from Wendell Comboy and Jasper Parker.

J-Jay Alejandro had 23 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Matthew Aquino had 13 points for the Bulldogs.
