NU Bulldogs finally stop the bleeding, end six-game slump with win over UE Warriors

NATIONAL University scored 18 unanswered points in a crucial stretch in the fourth quarter on the way to a University of the East, 64-52, on Saturday and snap a six-game skid in the UAAP Season 79 basketball tournament at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

The Bulldogs were trailing, 46-50, when they made the run for their fifth win in 13 matches.

“I thought we played good defense in the fourth quarter. We were able to assert ourselves in making stops,” said NU coach Eric Altamirano.

The Bulldogs finally won a game in a month, their last victory was on October 1 against University of the Philippines.

“It has been a long time. It has been a dry spell for us. We are happy for this win,” said Altamirano.

Matt Salem had 20 points, including 11 in the fourth period, as the Bulldogs outscored the Red Warriors, 20-7. Alfred Aroga had 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Chino Mosqueda also scored 11 for NU.

Alvin Pasaol had 10 points and 10 boards for the Red Warriors, who fell to 2-10.
