LEAGUE-LEADER Ateneo and De La Salle will collide on Sunday (August 17) at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum, and not on August 23 at the Mall of Asia Arena as the UAAP had earlier announced.

After a sudden change to a schedule released on Friday, archrivals Blue Eagles and Green Arxhers are now set for an early face-off in the second round of the eliminations at 4 p.m. at the Big Dome.

Ateneo is on top of the standings with a 6-1 (win-loss) card but the Green Archers have won five games in a row since losing to the Blue Eagles, 86-97, in their first meeting of the UAAP season last July 20.

Tickets for Sunday's doubleheader between the two rivals will still be sold separately from the day's other match pitting Far Eastern University (5-2) against National University (5-2) at 11 a.m.

No reason has yet to be given for the sudden change.

To open the second round, University of Santo Tomas battles winless Adamson on Saturday at 2 p.m. while University of the East takes on University of the Philippines at 4 p.m. at the Big dome.

The Tigers (3-4) were supposed to face league-leading Ateneo in the initial schedule released by the league but will now aiming to break a three-game losing streak against Adamson (0-7).

Meanwhile, host UE (3-4) is now set to face UP (1-6), instead of FEU.

Originally set to to open the second round against UP, NU will now have to face FEU in a battle of teams in the upper half of the team standings.

The complete schedule of the second round is expected to be released within the day.
