THE University of the Philippines' men's basketball team has found a major backer in 3M Philippines.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by 3M Philippines president and managing director Ariel Lacsamana, UP president Danilo Concepcion, and officials of the Nowhere To Go But UP Foundation Inc. on Tuesday at UP’s Quezon Hall.

UP players led by Juan Gomez de Liano and incoming Maroon Ricci Rivero witnessed the ceremony.

“We are excited and energized to be supporting and be part of something big like university basketball. We believe that the UP men’s basketball team is talent worth investing,” said Lacsamana.

UP coach Bo Perasol described how huge it is to see a big company like 3M become part of the team's growing number of supporters.

“I think more than the financial part of supporting the team, it is that kind of belief that a multinational company like 3M will be giving us will be a boost. Their confidence that we can represent their kind of company will make us believe that we can do it,” said Perasol.

Concepcion lauded 3M for its support to the team and encouraged the Maroons to repay the faith with good performances on the court.

“Kung gaganda ang ating performance, gaganahan din naman ang ating sponsors sa kanilang pagsuporta sa atin. Kinakailangan gumanda ang ating performance para ganahan ang ating mga donors,” said Concepcion.
