“I'm happy with the materials that we have,” says new College of St. Benilde coach Gabby Velasco. "But we must say 'di ganoon ka-superior `yung talent namin." Jerome Ascano

(Editor's note: This is the fifth part of our special Video Preview, a close look on the 10 teams competing in the NCAA basketball tournament this season.)

EVEN with the absence of a star player, new St. Benilde coach Gabby Velasco is pleased with the materials he has for Season 89 of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

The Blazers no longer have shooting guard and go-to-guy Carlo Lastimosa, but this year’s host remains very positive about its campaign.

“I'm happy with the materials that we have,” said Velasco, who takes over the coaching job from Richard del Rosario. "But we must say 'di ganoon ka-superior `yung talent namin.

"But with the enthusiasm and attitude ng team ngayon, we're all very positive," he added.

The Blazers are definitely looking to improve their ninth-place finish a season ago that saw the team finished with a 5-13 (win-loss) card.

Mark Romero is expected to take the place of Lastimosa as the team's top gunner, while getting support from the likes of Jonathan Grey, Paolo Taha, Robert Bartolo, and Alison Carlos.
