TEY Teodoro scored 21 points to lead Jose Rizal University to a 67-49 rout of College of St. Benilde on Tuesday in the NCAA Season 91 seniors basketball at The Arena in San Juan.
Teodoro also had eight rebounds and three steals for the Heavy Bombers, who improved their record to 4-2.
JRU limited CSB to the second lowest point output this season. The season low was set by EAC in a 47-67 loss, also to the same Heavy Bombers on July 17.
JRU head coach Vergel Meneses was pleased with the Bombers’ effort on defense.
“If we limit our opponents to below 70, we have a big chance of winning. Below 50 pa pala so we played good defense. I saw their energy on defense,” said Meneses.
It was Teodoro’s second consecutive game in double figures after tallying 25 against Lyceum.
“He is my go-to-guy. I told him to just play with the system. Anyway, sa kanya naman babagsak ’yung bola kapag end of the shotclock. He is a big time player,” said Meneses.
The Heavy Bombers outscored the Blazers, 24-8, in the second period to take a 39-22 lead. JRU then limited CSB to nine points in the third for a 55-31 advantage.
Jeffrey Ongteco had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the struggling Blazers, who dropped to 1-5.
