MAPUA beat Emilio Aguinaldo College, 101-72, on Friday to snap its two-game losing skid in the NCAA Season 91 seniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Stephen Que had 11 of his 17 points in the first half when the Cardinals broke loose for good against the outclassed Generals on the way to their second win in five games in the eliminations.
Que's scoring rampage had the Cardinals opening a 45-33 lead at the half.
The Generals dropped their fifth game in a row, but Mapua coach Atoy Co said beating a struggling team like EAC wasn't as easy as it looked.
“It’s difficult to face a 0-4 team because they have nothing to lose,” said Co.
Josan Nimes had 18 points while Justin Serrano added 16 points and six rebounds for the Cardinals.
Laminou Hamadou had 16 points while Francis Munsayac added 15 for the Generals.
