SAN Sebastian got another major piece from its high school program after receiving a commitment from Michael Calisaan to suit up for the Stags in the coming NCAA season.
The assurance of the 6-foot-3 Calisaan guarantees the Stags will be able to bring up the one-two punch of their high school team as Rhanzelle Yong had earlier committed to stay with the school for college.
Calisaan was part of the Mythical Five last season after averaging 14.2 points and a team-best 9.4 rebounds, joining teammate Yong and La Salle Greenhills’ Prince Rivero and Kobe Paras in the elite list.
He was earlier rumored to be moving to National University in the UAAP, but decided to stay with San Sebastian instead.
San Sebastian coach Topex Robinson is excited about having Calisaan, who despite being a power forward in high school, is very capable of playing the No. 3 position when he plays in college.
“Fit siya sa system namin dahil puwedeng ma-convert siya sa tres. Exciting din dahil mahaba ‘yung bata,” said Robinson.
The Stags mentor said the entry of Calisaan and Yong will definitely be a big shot in the arm for the Stags, who lost forward Leo De Vera after he played out his college eligibility.
