THE NCAA Management Committee has upheld commissioner Arturo ‘Bai’ Cristobal’s recommendation that College of Saint Benilde-La Salle Greenhills’ victory over Letran on Tuesday be forfeited after three Junior Blazers players wore incorrect uniforms during the match.
NCAA Mancom chairman Melchor Divina confirmed the decision on Wednesday, which credited CSB with a loss despite winning the high school game on the court against Letran, 88-49, on Tuesday with Ricci Rivero scoring 35 points.
Cristobal made the recommendation after LSGH’s Jesmar Pedrosa, Ladis Lepalam, and Alain Madrigal wore jersey numbers 20, 27, and 28 during the match against Letran.
Although Fiba made a change on its rules after the 2014 World Cup that allows players to wear 00 to 99, the NCAA insisted the league has its own rule, the old Fiba rule, that only numbers 4 to 19 shall be used during basketball games.
CSB has yet to appeal as of posting time.
