COLLEGE of Saint Benilde beat University of Perpetual Help in overtime, 113-102, on Saturday to capture the 10th Fr. Martin Collegiate Open Cup on Saturday at the San Beda Gym.
Paolo Taha had 25 points, while Mark Romero added 18 points for the Blazers, who got their preseason preparation for the NCAA on a high note with the Fr. Martin Cup title victory.
“I can safely say that the boys are starting to gain confidence. We can now take our game to the next level and do better when the NCAA opens in June,” said CSB coach Gabby Velasco.
Jonathan Grey added 16 points including baskets at the start of overtime to break away from a 95-95 deadlock.
Earl Scottie Thompson finished with 33 points including a basket with 38.2 seconds left in the fourth to force overtime.
In the women’s division, University of Santo Tomas beat reigning UAAP champion De La Salle, 78-69, to take home the crown.
